Craft Room Peek & Juicing Journal

Are you fed up with your craft room mess? Well, I sure am. 

I finally realized I could accomplish more if I simply reorganize 

my craftroom. Trash or donate what you don't use and keep 

like things together. 

That is where I started on my Project: Organize journey.

I can never remember all the different spots where I've stashed, 

not stored, my finished cards. So this week, I pulled out my new 

File It sets/dies from Clear & Simple Stamps and gathered up 

all my finished cards. I organized them by subject, die cut some 

index dividers from the new Stationary Organizer dies set and 

stamped each one. I emptied a useless drawer and bin, it has 

now become the new home for all my finished cards.

This is just the beginning folks.

I'm also embarking on another Trash What You Don't Need sort of

project. I'm focusing on my health and have started juicing once

again. I've done this a few times but find that cleaning the juicer is

a total pain. A few days ago while grocery shopping, I discovered 

all these REAL juices already packaged up for me to just drink. 

I drank the first one in the car on my way home. It was good, 

I was so happy I didn't have to pull out my juicer and spend at least 

30 minutes cleaning fruit, juicing and then cleaning the juicer. 

Then doing it all over again, again, and again.

These 'Real Juices' only have good stuff in them too!

Which brings me to the next project:

I love writing things down and comparing brands. I've done this with 

breads, sauces, etc. This next project is a juice journal, of sorts.

 

I found an unused notebook and stared stamping in it. Making charts 

with File It stamps/dies, Airmail, colored pencils, pattern paper and fabric tape 

to make it pretty. I won't misplace it or forget about it if it's pretty, right?!

I used the fabric tape to hold down the clear polka dot sheets. 

I found the perfect size glass in Taglines: by the glass and the fun glass fillers: 

ice, orange peel, umbrella.... they are so cute and fun to play with.

I just started day 3 and I am so enjoying it. I'm happier, more focused and 

I have more energy. The coolest things might be that I lost 2 lbs. 

Wow, I didn't see that coming.

Anyways, I am also enjoying comparing calories, carbs (c), sugar (s), 

fiber (f), and protein (p). Yes, surprisingly some of them have protein!

This way I can decide which brand works best for me.

I record how each tastes and how I felt after. I used Alpha Modern, 

the Itty Bitty letters to label each section.

Do you like to journal things like this? I know I'll stop at one point

but when I return to juicing I know I'll appreciate the effort I put in

journaling my thoughts and results.... I guess I need to add a

weight chart in the next section. I'll keep that portion to myself. Ha!

CSS Collection 8 Release: day 1

Today is a special day at Clear & Simple Stamps. 

It's the first day of release week. I love release days. Don't you? 

Today we'll reveal some fun flashcard sets that will allow you to make your own teaching tools for kids/students. Or use them on your scrapbook pages. I'm using them to make cards for family and friends that get our kids pictures each year.

I was inspired by the camera image in the Flashcards Fillers set. I drew it using just a few shapes so I thought using the insert die from Mini Tri-fold 2 die ( which, btw, coordinates with these set) and a few Circles dies would be fun.

I topped it off with a little black button and twine.

I knew my kiddo would dig a plush camera so I made one out of felt using the same Circles dies and another little black button. Too cute.

I also made a little storage box for extras using Party Favor 6, the crayon box die.

I loved drawing this school bus and thinking of the day that my Kindergartner will first ride the bus (which just happens to be today)! You'll see this bus in tomorrow's release but you can get this awesome Alpha Clear set now....

It's fun to see how my little man has grown over the years. These photos will be safe here until I can frame or scrapbook them!

Homemade Flashcards

My two year old loves our flashcard learning time.....

b, o, a, t .... he yells, 'yeeeaaah' then clap, clap, clap!

I scored these chipboard scraps at a local print shop... I dumpster dive as often as possible. I used to work there so they don't mind. Then I had them bind them together. I have made mini scrapbooks with them too. This is one I sold at my Etsy shop... ages ago!

One look at Steph's work and the word "eclectic" comes to mind. This girl has such a creative streak that she manages to come up with some very unique and innovative card designs. And she doesn't just "do" cards, she creates gift ensembles, jewelry, 3-D greeting card projects and she does it all very, very well! So let's find out how she manages to come up with these cool cards and projects!

How did your passion for card making begin?
The day I discovered stamping is when I shifted from scrap booking to card making. I love the quick satisfaction you get from making a card. Instant gratification! Not to mention they are designed to be given away. I love to give my cards to anyone and everyone that touches my life. Even the folks that cut my grass!

What's on your craft table right now?
Everything. From last weeks scraps to every little embellie I pulled out over the last month.
It's a mess, as it should be! I often start one thing that leads me to start several other things. Which leaves me with many unfinished projects

Do you send or hoard your cards?
Hoard. It's shameful, I know!

Other than card making, what other hobbies do you enjoy?
I move from hobby to hobby. I don't often do more than one at a time. I used to love making soap, then scrapbooking, then making jewelry (I once dabbled in making my own glass beads but gave up when my husband could make a better shaped bead than I could, and he's not even crafty!), then pottery, I even own a potter's wheel, then ATCs and now almost strictly card making and 3-D paper crafts. Every once in a while I get the urge to paint with acrylics on canvas.


What color combos do you most enjoy?
I've been told I'm an earth-tone junky! I am not so good with color combos so I don't think I have a fav. I let the papers or embellishments guide my color choices. However, I do prefer a Craft colored card base.

Where do you gather inspiration?
Other bloggers mostly. My go to gals are Nichole Heady and the entire Papertrey Ink Crew, Kristina Werner and Melissa Phillips.

What is your favorite part of the card making process?
Definitely not the beginning! I think I spend more time trying to start a project than I do actually making it. I enjoy finding that pretty little embellie that guides me through the process; helps me choose my papers and stamps.

What's your favorite card theme?
Apparently BABY, because I have a ton of baby stamps!

How many cards do you make in an average week?
Oooh, that's a tough one. My creative spurts come and go. I could knock out 20 in a day or one in a week.

This is my sweet little nephew. He's nearly 4 yrs. old now!
His Mom & Dad used to call him Tugboat. Too cute.

While you were out

I made this little chipboard album for my husband while he was on his 9th tour in Iraq.
That is 8 yrs. of "traveling", let's call it.
Now we have a kiddo, so the last 2 yrs. have been filled with taking many photos and videos for "Pop" to keep up with his son's happenings.
My husband just got back recently and I found this sitting on the table all wrapped up in bubble wrap. Just as perfect as the day I made it. He took such good care of it for me. (sniff, sniff)
Our kiddo is so happy to have his Pop back home!

I filled them with Caramel Apple supplies:
Heath bars, white chocolate and caramel.
It makes enough for 4 people to take home
3 boxes each. Those three boxes will make 2 or 3
'white chocolate dipped & rolled
in Heath crumbs' caramel apples.

You could fill them with a cookie mix or
soup mix , the possibilities are endless!

You can't NOT decorate the bottoms...

A little ribbon, a little brad and a little Killer Red Tacky Tape make the cake!

Umm, umm good!

Then I had to try this 6 x 6 Acetate Album.
I have never had so much fun making a scrapbook.
It was a challenge...
as many of you may understand considering
acetate books have been popular for some time now.
This is my first.

This is my little noodle being a ham!!

I used coordinating stickers, rub-ons and
papers from Stampin' Up! along with
a few left over scraps from other projects.
