Sew Saturday: ragdoll bassinet

This little bassinet was made from one quilted pillowcase, well sham. I recently redid our guest room and was left with two reversible, yet stained, Martha Stewart pillow shams. They are quilted and ready for a good upcycle. I found this darling tutorial by Dana at MADE.

My baby girl loves to tote her Ragdolls in her very own Bassinet.

Sew Saturday: weekender travel bag

Have you had the pleasure of making the Weekender Travel Bag by Amy Butler? This is #7 for me, I believe. It gets easier the more you do. I don't even have to look at the directions any more which helps cut down some time. My first few used to take about 10 hrs from cutting to ironing on interfacings and sewing and inner and outer piece. This one took me more like 8 hrs. I did skip the side pockets that belong on the outside. I think it would look better with them. I regret not adding them. But I have yet to add piping. I don't think I ever will. The Weekender looks great with or without the piping. Do you skip any steps in patterns you purchase?

Sew Saturday: apple bib

I made this little cute apple bib for my little girl. I designed the dies to be used for appliqué but you can also cut paper for cards or scrapbooking or even felt for bean bags like these....

Or this Tooth Fairy Pouch....

Sew Saturday: Divided Basket for Baby

I really enjoy making baby gifts.
I used noodlehead's Divided Basket tutorial.
It's unique in the fact that you'll learn how to make two sections in the lining of the basket. I used Pellon Craft Bond for the lining interfacing and Fusible Fleece for the outer fabric. The basket is sturdy ....and stunning, IMHO. The lining fabrics are from JoAnns and the outer home dec fabric was found at a fabric depot in Williamsport, PA. The bias tape was a freebie from an Etsy shop order. I love how the fabrics work together. The pocket on the front has three sections. Great for diaper cream, mommy's lip balm, etc. Needless to say, it was hard to give up this pretty little gender neutral basket. However, I know it will be very useful. It's great to have diapers and wipes handy when you're not in the baby room or you could keep it in the car. We keep ours in the living room since our baby's room is on another floor. I'll share that one soon too.

By the way, you can make your very own Build-a-Rag Doll (like the one in the basket) with metal cutting dies from Clear & Simple Stamps. When you order it comes with a full How-to Tutorial that I wrote. Base Dies, Girl Dies, Boy Dies.

did someone say Paper Bag Princess Party?

A little someone is celebrating their 4th birthday this week!
My niece, Willa.

Her mama, my uber-creative sister,
is throwing her a Paper Bag Princess Party.
I will link you to the fabulousness when she shares!

So I thought, 'What better way to enjoy your day than to play with paper dolls named after you, huh?' Clear & Simple Stamps has a whole line of Willa Rag Doll Stamps!! all links provided below....

I simply started with the card and it exploded from there. All of a sudden I had a whole row of houses, stands, and doll clothes that needed a safe keeping place. I knew I had a pocket envie die so I sifted thru all of my CSS dies and found the perfect envie for these paper dolls. Not to mention the perfect stamp sets for the Princess of the Ball.

I used the A4 Pocket-Fold Envie Die but folded it to be taller
so the Rag Doll House Die cuts would fit inside.

So let's play shall we.... even the card can be played with!

and the back of the envie as well....

What little girl wouldn't want this envie full of goodies to color and imagine with?
